Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Mr. Johnson was the CMR for the project responsible for conducting the weekly project progress meetings, calculating estimates for Request’s for Price Proposal’s and assisting the Government with negotiations. Mr. Johnson also analyzed a Time Impact Analysis and provided recommendations to the Government.
Mr. Johnson reviewed and analyzed CPM Schedule updates, reviewed the monthly Contractor Pay Applications, tracked and documented all major aspects of the construction.
Mr. Johnson has clearly demonstrated which project details are of primary concern, risk and attention and then encouraged the project team to focus their efforts in the areas that count. Mr. Johnson’s consistent application of engineering standards added additional value and quality to the project. Project schedule evaluations and recommendations resulted in a reduction in time and cost.
Mr. Johnson’s efforts with generating Independent Government Estimates (IGE’s) for work adds/changes and the subsequent negotiations with the contractor resulted in substantial savings for the Government.
Complexities: security and limited access, limited working area and staging area, historical elements over the entire project, remote location for timely concrete delivery resulting in night work, colored concrete, high pedestrian traffic area. The diverse demands of the project required strong personal communications, sensitivity to divergent stakeholder objectives, the confidence to withstand the high visibility of and attention to detail required by the National Mall.
Renovations Included:
• 19,000 CY of new concrete including over 300 grade beams under the new pool deck
• New double reinforced 8” thick colored concrete pool deck
• Exposed aggregate 12’ wide sidewalks along the half mile length of the pool
• New security bollards in the plaza
• New granite clad lighted decorative security walls leading to the plaza
• New circulation system with ozone injection for water clarity and quality
• Intake system bringing water from the Tidal Basin to the pool supplementing the City water supply
• New water Treatment Building with specialized filtration equipment
• New half mile long asphalt Elm walks on both sides of the pool with LED lighting
